Botulinum toxin type A Injections –
Localized and convenient

Botulinum toxin type A (e.g. BOTOX®) injections consist of treating the affected area – using an ultra-fine needle – with localized injections. This option is appropriate for people who have focal hyperhidrosis in their underarms.

Since the treatment is virtually painless, the underarms, face and head, can be treated without anesthesia.

Cost

The cost of botulinum toxin type A injections varies depending on the area of treatment and dose of medication used. You can expect to pay from $200 – $500 per treatment. If you’ve been diagnosed with hyperhidrosis, the treatment medication is often covered by most private drug plans and possibly by the government (QUE, MAN, AB, SK, NS). Your hyperhidrosis specialist will provide information to help you with reimbursement according to the policy of your insurance plan and will discuss any possible additional fees for the injection procedure.

Side Effects

Side effects such as pain or bruising at the injection site, headache and an increase in sweating in other areas of the body can occur.

A sweat management specialist will help you find the right treatment for you.
